Vectorized Exon Skipping

Some genetic disorders are caused by misalignment of portions of the affected gene. When the gene is too large to be restored through gene replacement, a molecule can instead be delivered by AAV9. The molecule binds to the affected portions of RNA, either truncating the resulting protein in a manner that preserves some degree of function or switching off expression of the gene entirely.
